Finance Council

The parish finance council was established at St. Joseph of Cupertino in 1993 in conformity with the Code of Canon Law and the directives of the Bishop of San Jose. The council plays an integral role in the parish community and their volunteered time is valued.

Council members advise the pastor in all matters pertaining to parish finances; their authority is as a consultative body. The council is composed of the pastor and the parochial vicars, the parish business administrator/accountant and appointed members of the parish community.

Members are appointed by the pastor, after consultation with the parochial vicars and the business administrator. Appointees must have knowledge of accounting, finance, and budgeting, and/or they must possess development skills. The council meets quarterly; a record of each meeting is kept on file in the rectory office.

Message about Automated Giving

The Finance Council strongly encourages all parishioners to take advantage of the automated giving program. This program not only makes giving easier for the user and parish, but it has additional benefits to the financial health of the parish. During the year, mass attendance fluctuates significantly from the middle of summer school vacation to the Christmas and Easter holy days. The regularly scheduled contributions provide income stability throughout the year and allow the parish to take care of needs even when mass attendance is low. Automated giving also reduces the amount of manual labor and risk required for handling cash collections. Users can get clear statements of their contributions whenever they want online.

Automated Giving: It's quick, safe, easy, and benefits everyone!
