To foster Christian community, connection, and sense of family in a relaxed, warm environment that encourages personal interaction.
How we workThe Parish Social Committee organizes or supports enjoyable and fun parish gatherings. These events provide wonderful opportunities to get to know more about the parish, our clergy and parish staff, fellow parishioners, and visitors.
Examples of social activities: movie day, family social, karaoke, seasonal—related events, and Holiday gatherings.
The Committee meets only as needed, as requested by the Chairperson. A primary meeting would be to set a 6—month schedule of events, or in preparation for a major parish—wide celebration such as the Parish feastday. Mostly, the Committee consists of a roster of volunteers who can be called upon to assist for specific events. Committee communication is primarily through email or phone contact. Examples of tasks for events are: publicity such as flyer preparation and distribution, room setup, host/hostess duties such as refreshment service and greeting people, contributing to a potluck, room cleanup.
The Committee also collaborates with other parish groups like the Welcoming Committee, Stewardship, SJC Fil-Am, Young Adults Group, when there is a social component to events sponsored by them.
